To find your cup size, you need to ask yourself the right questions

To choose the right menstrual cup size, you need to ask yourself a few questions.
Consider your menstrual flow. Would you describe it as light, medium, heavy, or very heavy?

What about your pelvic floor? Do you think it’s strong and toned? If you’ve given birth, was it vaginally? Do you do any intense physical or athletic activity?

These questions will help you select the cup that’s right for each woman and girl. Plus, this menstrual product allows you to learn more about your body and the intensity of your period.

Size and flexibility: know the differences, make the right choice, and find what works for you!

Pink size S? Blue size M? Blue size S? Pink size M? How do you pick the right Loulou? Don’t worry, we promise it’s actually pretty simple.

Louloucup offers two cup models, the pink one and the turquoise one, in two different sizes: size S and size M.

Small or medium menstrual cup

Size S is especially suited for young girls and women with a light to medium menstrual flow. The Loulou small menstrual cup is slightly smaller and holds less blood than the medium.

Size M is better for young girls and women with a medium to heavy flow. The Loulou medium menstrual cup is a standard, universal size.

However, remember that the nature of your menstrual flow isn’t the only factor to consider when choosing your cup. Don’t forget your anatomy.

Size S is ideal for young girls with a strong pelvic floor. Size M is perfect for women with a less toned or more relaxed pelvic floor.

Pink or blue menstrual cup

We want to highlight the importance of flexibility when choosing your cup—it's just as important as size. At Loulou, cups come in two levels of flexibility, represented by two colors: turquoise or pink.

The turquoise cup is very flexible. It's perfect for women and young girls with particularly sensitive vaginas.

The pink cup is slightly firmer. It's ideal for athletic women, for example. Swimmers will definitely agree!

We help you make the right choice

Here’s what we recommend:

  • a turquoise size S cup for young girls, teens, and young women who haven’t given birth vaginally.
  • a pink size M cup for athletic women, women who have given birth vaginally, as well as women and girls with a heavy or very heavy menstrual flow.
  • a size S turquoise cup for young girls or women with a light to medium flow who are sensitive to vaginal or bladder discomfort.
  • a turquoise M-size cup for young girls or women with a fairly heavy flow who have never given birth.
  • a size S pink cup for women who have already given birth vaginally but have a light flow.

Don’t forget, it’s convenient to have two cups so you can alternate and avoid getting stuck. Also, add period underwear to your menstrual routine—they’re especially perfect for nighttime.

What precautions should you take when using a menstrual cup?

Before using a cup, you need to follow several important precautions. Nothing complicated. Hygiene, technique, habits—just follow the steps:
  • You should not wear a menstrual cup for more than 6 hours. In fact, prolonged use of intravaginal hygiene products can, in some cases, cause toxic shock syndrome (TSS). This is a rare infectious disease that can occur in women carrying the S. aureus bacteria that release TSST-1 toxins. For this reason, we advise against using a cup overnight. Instead, we recommend switching to period underwear for a peaceful, leak-free night!
